My friends wouldn't be even remotely surprised to see a "DuckTales" gag in this comic, as I've always maintained that Scrooge McDuck is my favorite comic book hero of all time. Admittedly, most of the cartoons haven't really aged well. The Carl Barks and Don Rosa comics upon which the series was based are far superior and hold up to repeated readings, well into adulthood. That said, I clearly still have a soft-spot for the show, especially when they stretched their legs for multi-part epics like the Gizmo-Duck saga. I probably like Gizmo-Duck so much because he was partially responsible for the always awesome "Darkwing Duck." (Yes, I'm of a generation raised upon the Disney Afternoon. Deal with it.)
This strip always briefly touches upon Sporkman's sex drive. I can never tell if Sophie is actually flirting with the poor dope or not, though. That little tease.
