The Jig Is Up!

Date: October 29, 2004

Label: Deleted

Chapter: One Shot Wonders

Characters: Sporkman, The Spammer

As with the previous "deleted" strip, this comic was little more than a script and some loose thumbnails. I've drawn it here as close to approximating my 2004-era art as I could.

The reasons this one hit the cutting room floor are a bit nebulous, as I could think of several reasons right off the bat: first, like the previous strip, I probably decided to avoid alcohol usage in the newspaper strips; second, I was likely?gun-shy?on potentially offending actual Irish people; and, finally, it's possible I just didn't think the comic was that funny. But hey, now it's 2012, I think it's funny, and I don't care about those other two reasons.

An interesting note about the Spammer is that, after setting him up as Sporkman's arch-nemesis in that opening storyline, he basically dropped out of the comic entirely. This deleted strip demonstrates, if nothing else, that this wasn't always the case.

Note that the date?I've?posted this comic under?isn't?strictly accurate: the thumbnail script I salvaged this strip from was undated, though it was noted as being “One-Shot 4,” which would chronologically place it here in the archive.

Remastered on August 18th, 2012.

About The Comic

Classic Sporkman is a comic by Jodie Troutman, beginning in 2004 as a throwaway reboot of the titular character she created in high school. It's extremely silly, frequently stupid, and the comic's creator absolutely loves it. She hopes you do too. For more comics by Jodie, visit longtalljodie.com!
